Bernd Kerschbaumer from Ennstal, last year’s title-holder, will be joining again.
Under the management of „Big Otto“ Wanz, 8 athletes will fend for the title „Strongest Man in Austria“ in the Planai stadium. Last year’s title-holder, Bern Kerschbaumer from Gröbming (with 150 kg he is the weightiest participant on the field), will join again this year as will Franz Moser from Steir, Klaus Baumgartner and Reinhard Liegl. From Salzburg, Gerhard Trawöger und Wolfgang Kriechbaum will participate as well as Oliver Gratzer from Lower Austria and Tyrolean Daniel Greier.
Tyre tossing, carrying of snow chains and shouldering sacks to carry them uphill on the Planai as well as pulling cars and lorries are indeed exhausting activities; and eventually there will be another whole bunch of power-packed activities with a total weight to be moved or lifted of up to 20 tons per person. The event with free entrance starts at 7 p.m.
