The biggest and most famous Styrian skiing area offers skiing and snowboard freaks, winter revellers and après ski fans everything which belongs to a great winter holiday or skiing day. And this is an example of the perfect skiing week in Schladming:
Monday: The week has just started, the stamina still strong, so off you go to ride the gondolas. The Schladming 4-mountain ski gondola ride offers 115 kilometres of best pistes, the heart of which is formed by Planai and Hochwurzen. And why not print off the “skiing ECG“ in the Planai valley station at the end of the day, that gives your performance of the day on paper!
Tuesday: Dachstein day! How about visiting the Dachstein glacier?! The hottest tips for the eternal ice: visit the spectacular Dachstein Sky Walk panorama platform and the new Dachstein Ice Palace which leads directly into the depths of the glacier. A fantastic option to “experience” the Dachstein glacier is the Dachstein crossing to Obertraun. From there it is of course also possible to take the bus back (until 6 January daily, then every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday). The Dachstein offers ideal conditions for ski tours, crossings and steep downhill runs.
Wednesday: “Après ski on the mountain” is name of the game every Wednesday from 26 December 2007 to 19 March 2008 from 3pm in Onkel Willy’s Hütte and in the Schladmingerhütte. From 6pm hut evening in the Schafalm. Plus there is a live programme in the Hohenhaustenne.
Thursday: Did party too hard on Wednesday and are now a little tired?! The excellent all-round range on Planai and Hochwurzen provides fun and gets your spirits back up in an instant: measure your speed on the fast ride route, have a small race on the permanent racing route, curve down into the valley listening to your favourite track, try some jumps in Playground Hochwurzen and drop by in a cosy ski hut for refreshments.
Friday: Night time skiing (3 km of flooded pistes) and night time tobogganing (7 km of tobogganing runs) on Hochwurzen is ideal for anybody who wants to extend the skiing days. The ascent with the Gipfelbahn Hochwurzen and toboggan is convenient and leads directly to the Hochwurzen summit (toboggan start) which means that several fancy toboggan rides are possible apart from a cosy visit to the hut per evening! From the Hochwurzen summit there is a great panorama view to the Dachstein mountain and across the illuminated Ennstal. It is operated every evening (apart from Sundays) from 7.30pm to 10pm, the huts are of course also open in the evenings.
Saturday: The smallest are the biggest with us – this is why there is the Junior Weekend Discount every Saturday and Sunday. Kids ski for only EUR 13 all day and teenagers for EUR 22.
Sunday: Every Sunday from 6 January the Ski Show is on the agenda at 8pm to visit guests in the Planaistadion. Great performances of the ski instructors, freestyle teams, motocross and biker action, traditional events, funky music and a huge firework display are in store. So, off you go!
And then?! Just start over!!!
