Dachstein Ice Palace – enter the inside of the glacier

Enter into the deep of the Dachstein Glacier! This is possible with the new “Dachstein Ice Palace”. This attraction, unique in the whole of Austria, opens its gates to visitors on a daily base and leads you directly inside the glacier – only three walking minutes away from the Dachstein mountain station, all year round, no matter the weather conditions. During a round trip inside the glacier with its many generous niches visitors can explore attractions such as the “Throne Room”, the “Crystal Dome” or the “Blue Saloon”. The impressive portal made of pillars and the detailed décor carved directly from the glacier ware crafted by Chinese ice artists in weeks of work.

Special 2008

The “Special Exhibition Soccer” in the Euro-year 2008 shows the most exciting, funny and popular scenes of soccer history up to date! Be enchanted by this fascinating and mystic combination of ice, light and sound.

Dachstein Sky Walk

Another big attraction still is the Dachstein Sky Walk next to the mountain station of the Dachstein Cable Railway. The probably most spectacular outlook platform is also known as the Balcony of the Alps and is sitting on top of a 250-metre vertical cliff of the Hunerkogel. Become a Dachstein Sky Walker and step onto the glass floor – an unforgettable outlook and insight is guaranteed! Next to the platform you will find a path leading you around the Dachstein mountain station. It gives you the most stunning outlooks onto the impressive southern wall of the Dachstein and the beautiful summits of the Alps.

Panorama Restaurant

At the mountain station of the Dachstein Cable Railway you will find the Panorama Restaurant. From there you have a magnificent view in all directions. Unique: the borders of the neighbouring federal states Steiermark and Upper Austria run right through the restaurant! The Panorama Restaurant offers regional specialities, varied daily dishes, trendy snacks and “gschmackige Jausenbrettl”, an Austrian type of sandwiches as well as a salad and cake buffet. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside on our sun terrace.
Start the day at the Dachstein with the Sunrise Breakfast at the Panorama Restaurant, a great breakfast buffet, or enjoy the end of the day with the Sunset Dinner.
The Dachstein is an inspiring location for creative work, develop ideas, meet people, learn and celebrate! Seminars and meetings are welcomed in our seminar room – the highest in Austria! . With its multi-faceted landscape in its historical and cultural dimension, and its rich variety of flora and fauna, the Dachstein heritage ranks amongst the world's finest, in terms of both culture and nature.

The Dachstein - A high Alpine paradise for mountain walkers, mountaineers and climbers

The Dachstein Glacier cable car will bring you easily into the unique, high mountain world of this UNESCO world natural and cultural heritage site. The imposing rock cliffs of the south face of the Dachstein in Ramsau contrast with the glaciers, corries and unique "Am Stein" high plateau in the north.
