These pages will provides you with an informative insight regarding the many sides of tour runs from the mountain station of Dachstein glacier railway. You cannot replace a conscientious planning of your tour, however. It is highly recommended that inexperienced skiers go with a local guide.

Test your deep powder snow shape Everyone who is tempted by adventure should prepare themselves methodically. An ideal training ground on deep power snow slopes with different levels of steepness can be found in the area of the glacier lifts. Those who dare to ski down the steep runs marked with S should be experienced in this kind of terrain! Important safety instructions for tour members All tours described here take you through high alpine terrain, away from secured pistes. Please do not leave the route – fall hazard!
Fitness requirements A secure command of the sports devices also during poor snow conditions, basic alpine experience and a good level of fitness are the basic requirements. Test your ability first on the powder snow slops in the area of the glacier lifts!
Equipment The Dachstein glacier rail will bring you comfortable to your starting point at 2,700 m above sea level. Furs and tour bindings for the ascent are therefore not necessary. Most of the runs can be done with normal skiing equipment (correctly placed bindings!) or standard snowboards. A backpack with emergency alpine equipment is required.
Orientation All tours should only be undertaken during good visibility. The funs to Hallstatt-Obertraun are marked with poles. All other tours require in-depth route planning (map and tour description) or the accompaniment of a local guide! The snow situation as well as poor snow conditions can cause high technical and conditional challenges. Inquire about these conditions before you embark on your tour!
Danger of avalanches Avalanche danger is acute, especially after heavy snowfall and great winds. The steep runs to the south of Ramsau are subsequently impassable. Inquire about the current avalanche hazard conditions before you embark on your tour.
