Mountainbiking & Downhill on the fastest Ski mountain in Austria

On the Planai there is still lots to do in Summer! The Planai-Downhill Course – the longest in Austria – opens again this year on 31. May 2008. The Schladminger Cable car company have set up a specially marked out Mountain bike downhill course and variable course from the top station all the way down to the middle station and then further on down all the way to the Olympiastadion. – 4500m of downhilling on the fastest ski mountain in the world, the Planai.
Running over a 4,5 km long course the Planai-Bike-Park runs alongside the lift route which will be adapted simply for this. The course is set up to be environmentally attractive and offers a wide variety of downhill action for all. From cool steep curves and jumps to steep slopes, where the thrillometer hits the roof. The maximum incline is 100%.
The start is at 1830m, the finish is at 740m. The altitude difference is 1080 m. The transport of the bikes with the Planai-Bahn lift is of course free. The Planai-Bahnen offer daily or multi day tarrifs which are a lot cheaper than those of similar parks. A day pass for adults on the Planai costs a reasonable € 24,00. A season pass € 155,00. Certianly a great deal for all bikers. Bike-Washing services and toilets are found directly in the bottom stadium, Pizzeria, bars as well as the Schladming main square, all in the close vicinity.
