Astonishment is already programmed: ice crystals of up to 80 cm long and naturally grown in the middle of a crevasse are waiting for the visitors. Guests of the Dachstein Ice Palace can experience this live from coming Wednesday on, when this new attraction will be opened to the public for the first time. Even the measurements of the natural crevasse are amazing: 40 m long, 17 m deep and 2 m wide. For the first time in the entire Alp region guests can now look into a real crevasse without any danger and easily accessible. The crevasse had been discovered in the course of the construction works at the Ice Palace.
A giant porthole as access point (carved from ice as well) enables visitors to stick their head right into the crevasse. The „Dachstein Ice Palace“ leads guests deep into the inside of a glacier. They immerge into a frosty and fascinating world of ice and will be enchanted by gleaming ice and mystic music. Even the marbling of the glacier can be seen and guest get an idea about the powers and forces within a natural glacier. The special exhibition„Soccer in the Euro Year 2008“ will no make place for the „View into the crevasse“.
