Schladming will host the Alpine Ski World Championship 2013. On Thursday, during the FIS Congress in Cape Town, South Africa, the Austrian applicant prevailed against three other applicants, namely Beaver Creek/Vail (USA), St. Moritz (SUI) and Cortina d'Ampezzo (ITA). For the ninth time in Austria and the second time in the Styrian city of Schladming, which had already been World Championship location in 1982, the alpine World Champions strive for medals in Schladming. Schladming has handed in an application for the third time consecutively after the futile efforts for the championships 2009 and 2011.
