The green Cable Car

Protection of the environment plays a very important role in the operations of the entire organisation. The Planai-Bahnen are the first ski resort to be able to position themselves as “the green lift company” and in June 2002 voluntarily put themselves forward for an “Eco-Audit”. By taking the Eco-Audit they have already satisified the new EU guidelines which will first come into play in 2006. Through audits all organisations will be examined to find out what sort of effect they have on the environment. This extends from the variety of plant types on our pistes to the brooding behaviour of birds through to the reforestation of the entire region. Also: Despite the creation of ski pistes the forest area has in fact grown in the areas of Planai and Hochwirzen. The Eco-Audit provides the Planai-Bahnen with a prominent, exemplary testimony for its interest in protecting the environment.
